    • Potsdamer Platz is a large public area in the heart of Berlin near Brandenburg Gate. Formerly a major intersection, it was completely destroyed in World War 2. After lying desolate for years, construction began in the 90s. During its construction, it was the largest construction site in Europe. Now, it is an architectural marvel that features the Sony Center, a large shopping mall, a railway station and numerous restaurants. It has become a symbol of Berlin's rebuilding and its emergence as a vibrant city full of contrasts and diversity.

Potsdamer Platz was built by 4 major investors, including Sony, which established its European headquarters here. The Sony Center is a large cinema which includes an IMAX 3D theater. It became well known for the dramatic movie premiere of Spiderman.

The shops, restaurants and cinema at the Potsdamer Platz make it a great place to relax and marvel at the impressive modern architecture.
