    • Okavango Delta, Botswana - March 2005
      2 or more days
    • This delta is one of the most impressive natural wonders on Earth! It is formed by Okavango River, which simply ends in the middle of land. The best time to visit is March to June, when the water spreads over the vast land. If you visit in other time of the year, there is a big chance that you will have to push you canoe, because it won't be enough water.

You explore this amazing region by canoe and you definitely need a guide. You can book a tour with many tour operators, but we simply talked to some local people and they offered to show us around. We hired 2 guides for a tour of 2 days. We parked our car and took some supplies.

The Okavango Delta offers some amazing opportunities for wildlife watching. Basically, the whole area is covered with water, with many small islands where specific animals live. Our guides knew exactly where the animals were to be found, so we watched some elephants on one island (we came really close!), and then some hippos on the other one. And - of course - many different kinds of birds can be seen.

We stayed overnight at a small island and slept in our tent. We made a fire and sat talking into late night, listening to animal voices all around.... It was an unforgettable experience!
